Wedding photography in Finland – tailored to your wishes!

The basic principle of our photography is that it is a documentary of your wedding. These photos tell the story of your Important Day with all the single events and feelings. If the sessions start from the preparations in the morning, we use the term “documentary wedding photography”. Some customers want all the guests to be photographed, some wish portraits of their friends. Some prefer lyrical photos, minimizing the use of the flash, highlighting artistic features, photos of decorations or a more limited set of photos including more sophisticated pictures.

There may be several wishes – and they are the basis for our photography. Feel free to express your wishes about the style of the photos, because a good photo and a nice style are always partly a subjective concept. Our photographers know how to be flexible and respect your wishes. Each photographer has their own style, which is emphasized, if no wishes are expressed by the customer. Normally the photographers try to act as invisibly as possible to create natural photos – unless you prefer formal ones.

Formal wedding photos and other considerations

A formal wedding photo and a photo for a Thank-you card are usually taken during the wedding day. They should be planned beforehand. We’ll have a meeting with the wedding couple to see the site and plan for portraits, backgrounds, lighting etc. The better you can express your wishes – when, where and how – the less time the photo sessions will last and the less the guests will need to wait.

Photography techniques

We take our photos with professional digital cameras, and of course with professional lenses. If necessary, we’ll bring our own studio lights for portraits, if the official wedding photos eg. in case of bad weather have to be taken indoors. In a normal “from altar to waltz” session we usually take some 2000 photos, of which the best 300 to 500 are selected for the final set, according to the duration of the photo session.

Our wedding photographers

Our main photographers are Tomas Whitehouse (native english-speaking) and Jouni Ranta. But we also have other experienced wedding photographers. Our main photographers have worked as professionals for several years and their experience includes tens of wedding photo sessions. Wedding photography is never the same, every single wedding day is unique, which the photographers always take into consideration.

Most of our photo sessions take place in Uusimaa, sometimes further ahead. We also have photographers in other regions: Asko Veteläinen and Milan Kolarovic in Norhern Bothnia, Janne Ulvinen in Central Finland. You can also view their model photos.
